Financial Impact and Cost/Benefit Considerations: The awarded grant to PEC is $250,000 with expectation of a cost-share of $75,000 provided as in-kind labor over a 3-year timeline. Prior to project execution, economic analysis, feasibility and benefit studies will be evaluated with the most recent information available.
Discussion
The Board of Directors may consider approving the feasibility of accepting the award of the Microgrid Pilot Grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Energy to Advanced Microgrid Solutions and as PEC serving as the host utility. This project will demonstrate end-to-end optimization of distributed energy resources and give distribution operators the situational awareness and control needed to maintain grid reliability while cost-effectively serving the membership. The project, in addition to providing potential revenue streams and grid benefits, the learning opportunity on advanced technologies for PEC employees is key in the advancement of the cooperative. Furthermore, the lessons learned can help in writing regulations on how such new technologies integrate in the market.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS that the Board approves and accepts the microgrid grant from the U.S. Department of Energy as the host utility as presented to the Board this day; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chief Executive Officer, or designee, is authorized to take all actions necessary to implement the project and otherwise implement this resolution.
