Discussion

Recommendation to approve the purchase of 187 galvanized steel transmission poles necessary for the rebuild and upgrade of the existing Wirtz to Johnson City (T313) and Johnson City to Mountain Top (T317) transmission lines.  This project addresses various issues that have been identified with these lines including NESC clearance violations, structural issues, and failed pole inspections.  The transmission line upgrade improves the existing line by adding the ability to convert the 69 kV transmission voltage to 138 kV, allowing for bundled conductor construction to increase line rating, adding optical ground wire fiber to improve communications and reliability, and allowing an additional transmission line to be installed on the same structures.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Chief Executive Officer or designee is hereby authorized to take such actions as needed to implement this resolution.
