Discussion
Recommendation is to approve this resolution to enter a contract for the construction of an upgrade in the capacity of the T365 Wirtz to Flat Rock to Paleface from 130 MVA to 440 MVA by replacing existing structures, conductor and shield wire. The project also improves clearances over three crossings of Lake Marble Falls in order to comply with state safety requirements for lakes. The project is part of a plan to exit the Wirtz RAS and improve the overall reliability of transmission service to members served by Flat Rock Substation, Paleface Substation, and the broader PEC and ERCOT transmission system. The scope of the project includes replacement of the existing shield wire with OPGW and existing wood pole structures with steel structures. Approximately 50% of the wood pole structures were replaced as part of a rehabilitation project in 2018.
